I've been offline for a while and was disappointed to read that the pms have gone. As I've been going through a very difficult emotional patch with 2 very ailing parents, the pms were a great source of comfort to me, and the opportunity to re read them was so important.

I can't add anymore to what everyone else has said on the matter.

I feel really thick, I have not been on for a few days so have missed all of this carry on, and even worse I did not know what the PM was or even how to use it.
Where have 8i been?
I would however just like to say this,
As regards NRAs i CAN see completely where Ailsa is coming from and if you are a "company" you do need to protect yourselves from any aspect which may ultimately hurt or damage some of your members. I think it is very sad that one of our members has hurt another so much that this action was deemed necessary, I hope that this person is no longer allowed on this site.
However I do think that some people are far to easily upset and I hope that the crime justifies the end result and it is not an over reaction.
I will never know what I have missed !!
Love Melanie

Me, neither, MelConfused Sometimes I think I go round with my head in the sand (mixed metaphors there) but I never notice these things until everything blows up around me. Still, we're probably better off not knowing, perhaps ...

Hi I would just like to say that, as it appears to be decided that there shall be no more PM facility, I won't be adding to this thread.

What a shame! But nras had a GREAT response with this one. perhaps that was some sort of ploy too. Who knows.

Take care you lot.

Where can we read a copy of the Charity's Constitution and its rules relating to forum use and PM'ing?

The NRAS Forum Guidelines can be found when you first come onto the forum, under the Forum Help & Guidelines section

Thanks Helly, its the Constitution I'm interested in. I would have thought it would be accessible somewhere on the site, for anyone to read, giving full details of how they intend to manage the Members' Forum, PM'ing etc. etc. and what action they will take when things go wrong.

hi Carol, probably the nub of the problem, they don't have any steering docs on this subject. the mission/vision statement says:

Our Mission
The National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS) helps and supports people affected by rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and their healthcare professionals by:

Providing information, education, support and advocacy
Raising public awareness of rheumatoid arthritis
Raising the priority of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) with politicians and policy makers
Campaigning for equal access to good care and services for all
Facilitating networking and encouraging self-management
Raising NRAS funds to work towards our vision

Only place i haven't yet looked is the annual reviews. might do that later, but toddler had me up at 0425 today, and i don't think i can absorb any static text without passing out into deep sleep...off to catch up now
